Alaska Halibut Fishing Lodge
Saltwater fishing at Kodiak Island Resort is unsurpassed and lack of fishing pressure is certainly a big factor. We are a little bit harder to get to, hence not as many anglers have the opportunity to understand why we refer to our area as the "last frontier of the last frontier". Many days you never see another boat. You can savor our rugged Alaska wilderness setting while fishing for giant Halibut, all species of salmon, lingcod, rockfish and dolly varden.
King salmon are tremendous fighters often times making repeated greyhound runs, testing your arm strength and resolve. Coho salmon are scrappy, acrobatic fighters and are fun to catch on light tackle - either in the salt or fresh water. Rounding out the salmon available in Kodiak waters are chum, humpback and sockeye. We believe as do most of our clients our area offers the absolute best saltwater fishing Alaska has to offer. The catch rates prove our point.
Alaska Flyfishing Lodge
If stream fishing for steelhead and rainbow trout are your passion we can fly you out to some of the absolute best streams and lakes found anywhere in the world. In addition to world-class steelhead and rainbow fishing you can seasonally expect to catch Chinook, Coho and Sockeye salmon. We also have several lakes where anglers literally wear themselves out reeling in resident Rainbow and Dolly Varden trout. Though we furnish all the conventional gear make sure you bring your favorite fly rod and an assortment of flies!
Alaska Halibut Fishing Lodge
When halibut is your target fish, you are in for a real treat while fishing with us! Halibut range from small chicken-sized game fish to gargantuan-sized monsters weighing up to 450 pounds, or more! Halibut are stubborn fighters and will resist capture by making repeated runs for the bottom. If you tag into a big one, be ready for the battle of your life! Believe me; they make you earn every single pound of their savory white flesh!
Sportfishing Methods
We have accumulated a wealth of fishing knowledge the past 25 years. Each day’s fishing is planned to be best suited for the tides, weather, and location. Mooching and trolling herring is the most effective method for Chinook salmon. Mooching and drift fishing with lures and bait is best for halibut and bottom fish. Artificial lures are used for pink, sockeye, chum, and Coho salmon.

Type of water fished
Saltwater fishing is within several protected bays and inlets near Kodiak Island Resort. If the fishing is hot in the outside ocean waters, our 40-foot catamaran is the perfect boat to pursue salmon, halibut, lingcod and rockfish while maintaining a safe trip. The inside water conditions are usually calm and stable with an occasional light chop during the season.
Freshwater fishing is in streams, rivers or mountain lakes and by rafts or wading.
Come enjoy the Alaska fishing adventure of a lifetime at Alaska’s Kodiak Island Resort.
